National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The National Disability Insurance Scheme was initiated by the Australian Government for Australians with a disability, including people with intellectual, physical, sensory and psycho-social disabilities. It creates a managed market for disability services in Australia.

The NDIS is a new way to help people under 65 with disability get care and supports. The NDIS also helps families and carers with information about services to support people with disability. When people get help from the NDIS they can enjoy an ordinary life now and as their life changes.

My Age Care

My Aged Care was introduced on 1 July 2013 and is the main entry point to the aged care system in Australia. My Aged Care aims to make it easier for older people, their families, and carers to access information on ageing and aged care, have their needs assessed and be supported to find and access services

My Aged Care was developed based on extensive consultation across Australia, with individuals, services, peak bodies, consumers, and government departments.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)

The mission of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) is to support those who serve or have served in the defence of our nation and to commemorate their service and sacrifice. DVA supports veterans, war widows and widowers, serving and former defence force members, eligible Australian Federal Police members with overseas service; and their dependants and carers by delivering programs of care, compensation, commemoration and defence support services.

Medicare

Medicare is the publicly funded universal health care system in Australia. Operated by the Department of Human Services, Medicare is the primary funder of health care in Australia, funding primary health care for Australian citizens and permanent residents including Norfolk Island

Medicare is the scheme that gives Australian residents access to healthcare. Most taxpayers pay a Medicare Levy of 2% of their taxable income to help fund it.

Medicare is the basis of Australia’s health care system and covers many health care costs. You can choose whether to have Medicare cover only, or a combination of Medicare and private health insurance.

Centrelink

The Centrelink Master Program, or more commonly Centrelink, is a Department of Human Services master program of the Australian Government. It delivers a range of government payments and services for retirees, the unemployed, families, carers, parents, people with disabilities, Indigenous Australians, students, apprentices and people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and provides services at times of major change. The majority of Centrelink’s services are the disbursement of social security payments.

iCare

Insurance & Care NSW (icare) is a new organisation created to deliver the State’s insurance and care schemes. It will be a centre of excellence for long-term care needs for people with the most severe injuries (road or workplaces), helping people return to work, and improving quality of life outcomes.

We insure over 310,000 NSW businesses and 193 NSW Government agencies. We protect around 90 per cent of public and private sector workers in NSW
